Introducing T.A.L.K. – a powerful self-care method for mums.

(I have been emphasising the importance of TALKING ever since I recovered from depression so I can’t even imagine a better title.)

Although there is no one size fits all approach when it comes to your mental well-being, T.A.L.K. gives you the tools you need to step on the bridge that leads to the other side.

T.A.L.K. combines my professional knowledge and personal experience with postnatal depression and connects the most effective tools I have found over the years to help you heal your mental health & feel like YOU again.

Each word of this acronym has a huge meaning and represents one of the main pillars I use when helping you stop struggling in silence and be happy again!

Let’s take a closer look at each letter!

T – Talk

Talking is the hardest but also the most important part of the healing journey.
Talking saved me and I know it saved a lot of other mums (and dads) who struggled in silence.
Ideally, you talk to a professional but I know this is easier said than done. Especially, if you feel ashamed about your feelings.
Therefore, I suggest starting to talk to someone you TRUST. Choosing the right person is crucial. If you confine in the wrong person, it can go terribly wrong.
Remember that by talking about your feelings, you are helping others too.
Have you seen the movie Pay it Forward?
It’s the exact same principle.
If you help three mums, and those three mums help the other three mums, we can truly make a massive difference and change the world. Together.

A – Ascend

Ascend refers to gradual moving up the emotional scale rather than trying to feel happy right away.
When feeling low, on a vibrational level, you simply don’t have access to positive emotions.
Every effort to try to feel happy therefore only leaves you more frustrated.
The goal should be to reach for an improved feeling, not necessarily a good one. (Note: this can be anger or rage!)
When feeling hopeless, moving to feelings of anger gives you some kind of control. You are not hopeless anymore. And then, you can move up the emotional scale again.
Slowly.
Take it one step at a time.
I have to mention that there is no one-size-fits-all.
You have to try and see what thoughts and emotions work for you.
Remember that when you find a thought that brings you even a slight relief, it is a HUGE success and a sign you are on the right path.

L – Love

Love and compassion towards ourselves (and others) have the power the heal anything.
Love is the biggest and most complex part of the process.
Many people confuse self-love with self-care like looking after your needs, taking a regular Me time, etc. But this is just a part (however important) of self-love. It’s almost a SYMPTOM of self-love.
Self-love is a full acceptance of who we are including our flaws.
It is not a problem to love ourselves when things go right, the real challenge happens when things go WRONG. This is where most people struggle.
When we do something we are not proud of, we often perform emotional abuse on ourselves. (however ugly it sounds, we all do it!) This often happens on a subconscious level which makes it even more difficult to recognise and work with it.
But the good news is it IS possible.
Just remember how you felt about yourself when you were a child. That is when you truly love yourself unconditionally.
But over time, you started to listen to other people and accepted their beliefs as your own.
Day by day, you disconnected from your inner strength and pure love you were born with.
With the right tools and support though, you CAN feel that way about yourself again!
You can fall in love with every aspect of YOU, even those you dislike at the moment. You absolutely can!
And once you do, real miracles happen. Literally.
I truly believe that love has the power to heal anything.

K – Kick

We often tend to associate ourselves with our problems which makes things darker and bigger than they really are.
‘Kick’ teaches you how to zoom out on your problems and dissociate yourself from them.
Trust me, the impact this has on your mindset and well-being is HUGE!

That is it!

I am incredibly proud to have put this method together and cannot wait for it to help and support more of you out there!
